INTERVIEW:

• How does Caitlyn’s personality evolve throughout the book?

Caitlyn, like myself, was initially very overwhelmed about her nightmares, memories and flashbacks.  She struggles throughout the novel to proceed through a personal journey of self-discovery in which her past life experiences find a place in her life resulting in acceptance and meaning.  She is able to use the information from her past life to help her solve the murder mystery in the book.

• What is your writing process like? Do you have a specific routine or schedule?

Yes, I have a very specific routine and schedule in which I will go to the gym very early in the morning and then sit and write for approximately two hours and not a minute less.  For me, the commitment of time to the project is very important, and I have been able to “stick to” a schedule to write the first book of this trilogy and start the second.  

• How do you handle writer’s block or creative slumps?

In order to handle challenging moments such a writer’s block, I stick to my schedule, and if I feel that I cannot be creative at that particular moment, I go back and I read/review what I have been able to complete.  I will also spend the time outlining each chapter to help me avoid “creative slumps” and keep the process moving.
